Updates from Wellspring!

Please spread the word about Wellspring’s first annual dinner and silent auction!!!

Join Wellspring of Greenbrier for our inaugural Annual Fundraiser, an evening dedicated to supporting neighbors in need throughout the Greenbrier Valley. Guests will enjoy a delicious dinner, community fellowship, and the opportunity to bid on a variety of unique items and experiences through the silent auction. Proceeds from the event will directly support Wellspring’s programs, including our food pantry, Day Haven services, mobile pantry initiative, and other efforts that provide food, essential resources, and hope to individuals and families facing hardship. This special event offers community members, businesses, and supporters a chance to come together, celebrate Wellspring’s impact, and help strengthen our mission of serving the most vulnerable throughout the region.

Wellspring continues to expand food access across the Meadow River Valley through our choice-based food pantry, where individuals and families can select the foods that best meet their needs in a welcoming, grocery-style setting. The pantry offers fresh produce, bread, meats, shelf-stable foods, and personal care items when available, with no residency requirements or proof of income needed.

In addition to our regular daytime pantry, Wellspring launched an evening pantry in April to better serve working adults, students, and others who cannot attend daytime distributions. The evening pantry operates from 5–7 p.m. on select dates throughout the summer at Wellspring’s facility in Rainelle.

Wellspring has also launched a Mobile Pantry initiative in March, bringing food and essential items directly to Rupert, where the organization's first building was located. This program helps reach neighbors who face transportation challenges or other barriers to accessing resources. This expansion reflects the organization's ongoing commitment to reducing food insecurity and ensuring that more residents have convenient access to nutritious food close to home.

Wellspring would like to extend heartfelt thanks to our volunteers, who generously give their time and energy to keep our programs running. Their dedication makes everything we do possible.

In April, Wellspring hosted our first Bluegrass Supper at our new building in Rainelle. The event brought together neighbors, community members, and supporters for an evening of great music, delicious food, and meaningful fellowship. Entertainment was provided by Julie and Rob Riggleman, while Holy Smoking BBQ served up a wonderful meal enjoyed by all. Be sure to mark your calendars for our next Bluegrass Supper on August 8, 2026—we look forward to seeing you there!

Wellspring of Greenbrier continues to expand our Healthcare Advocacy Program, a growing initiative aimed at reducing barriers to care for low-income and underserved residents throughout the Meadow River Valley. The program emphasizes wellness education, care coordination, and connecting individuals with essential medical and social services.

Since March, we have been hosting free chair yoga classes weekly on Wednesdays offered to us through a programming partnership with the Shepherd Center. Additional programming has included a monthly healthcare educational workshop with topics like hand care, a heart health, and diabetes led by Dr. Cathy Hyndman.

Diana Godbey is shown above with the baskets provided to our neighbors who participated in the hand care clinic.
